Carlos Maravall is attending today's training sessions of the European EU-ECO-FIN project at ULE.

The economist Carlos Maravall, coordinator of the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Spain at the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER), will attend the training sessions of the Jean Monnet EU-ECO-FIN project at the University of León (ULE) today at 6:00 PM in the Faculty of Education’s Salón de Grados. Organized by Professor Mayte Tascón, Maravall will deliver a lecture on ‘The Central Role of Energy in the Current European Union Integration’.

Maravall, a European Commission official, previously visited ULE under the same project to explain the European financial system. Today, he returns to discuss the timely topic of energy. Following his lecture, a round table with professors and researchers from the project will be held, open to all attendees.

The Jean Monnet EU-ECO-FIN project aims to provide practical training and innovative teaching tools to Secondary, Baccalaureate, and Vocational Training economics teachers, based on the values of freedom, tolerance, and non-discrimination. It offers educational resources developed by a team of 13 professors from the universities of Valladolid and León, available on its website (https://www.euecofin.com/).

The project’s achievements include high-level expert participation and the integration of teaching tools in numerous educational centers, promoting sustainability. Since last year, courses have been offered to teachers in León and, this year, expanded to all of Castilla y León, as well as to students in the Master's in Teacher Training program.

The overall goal is to update the curriculum on topics such as environmental sustainability, the 2030 agenda, rural development, gender diversity, and financial education within the European Union framework. This year’s training sessions have featured speakers like Carmen Fernández Cuesta, Santiago Álvarez, Daniel Oliva, and José Luis Domínguez, and will conclude on January 23 with María José Rodríguez Jaume discussing gender equality in education.
